Decking

Creating gardens of distinction and excellence for over 25 years

Decking Installation

The best part of using timber as a construction material is its versatility and ability to work well in spaces where traditional building materials fail; for example, on slopes, wet areas, and rough, uneven surfaces, worn-out patios and raised indoor/outdoor access points.

The design element of any deck installation is crucial. Factors, like incorporating specifications/limitations of space, usage and matching personal taste, need to be kept in mind when creating an aesthetic, neat and sustainable space. Additional elements, such as balustrades, bench seating, inset planters, screening and lighting can also be added to every design.

We are happy to give quotes after a free, no-obligation site visit and consultation. Our installation is clean and efficient.

Recent Work

Installation

We install decks in gardens with minimal disruption to the wider area. The ground underneath is treated with a weed killer with a PVC membrane laid to suppress any future weed or plant growth.
Many methods can be used; for example, eliminating the need for foundations altogether as the beams sit on a trench of gravel. This allows water to drain away from the wood and stops it rotting. We use posts and spot foundations to eliminate sideways movement where we want to anchor the deck in position.

We build the deck over a steel frame when constructing at a height where multiple supports are not possible. This allows for structures that would not be possible when using timber by itself.

Balustrades And Aftercare

Balustrades can be constructed on the sides and steps to act as a rail or stop fall hazards. Summit Landscapes have constructed balustrades from metal, glass, rope and – obviously – wood!

We are more than happy to advise on the most suitable timber and wood treatment solutions.

We advise that your decking is treated annually to replace natural oils taken by the elements. This will keep the timber looking like new for longer.
